Jim's Bio

I grew up in Southern California surrounded by grassy meadows, tree lined creeks and sage covered hills. This country setting instilled an interest and respect for nature that became stronger as development slowly destroyed the wild places I explored as a boy. My interest in photography, film and video was sparked while in high school. I was impressed with the power of film to stir emotion and thought. From then on I've focused my studies and work on the crafts of film, video, still photography and graphic design.

In 1987 I formed an independent video production company through which I have produced numerous films for corporate and non-profit organizations. I've produced over 30 presentation programs, special interest films and TV documentaries that focus on natural history. Many of these programs continue to air on cable, PBS and the internet. They are also used by many schools, libraries and resource agencies. Most of these films focus on rare habitats and endangered species with the goal of increasing awareness of the natural world around us.

Photography & video provide a medium for sharing knowledge and experience, inspiring people to get involved in exploring and protecting wild places.
